If I may have your attention

Sat Oct 10, 2009, 3:34 PM
I would like to redirect you to [link] as I am hereby announcing my return to DA and the internet in general.

I'm going to spend some time re-adding people I have on the Hawksblade account before letting this account retire. I may not delete it, but it will receive no further updates.

So if you could add the new account to your watch list that would be great and I look forward to keeping in touch with you through DA more often =)

Take care!

14 Days Remaining

Until what you say? Why the day of Adobe

If everything goes according to plan I should have Master Collection CS4 in my mits within the next fortnight!
At this point I'm questioning if I should be reviving this account or make a new one, if I was ever to change my online persona... Now's the time to do it >_>

Suggestions people?

Also, in the meantime, here's a Prawn: [link]

Will one be ever making a return to DA?

Wed Jul 22, 2009, 3:56 PM
At this point it seems unlikely...

Since last year my plan has been to save up some loot and get my hands on the CS4 Master Collection, then not only be able to work from home but free up loads of time for personal projects as well. Now, the time leading up until then I've been without the software for my own use, which is why I never seem to upload anything here anymore. I'd really really like to, but I simply havn't had the time, opportunity or resources to make anything.

Now, my plan was to have enough saved and ready to go back at the beginning of May... It's now the end of July and I'm about a fifth of the way there...

Why were my Calculations so off? Allow me to explain,

Yes I am rubbish at Maths but that isn't the reason, since I started my job I was told that my starting pay of $200 a week (that's full time btw) would be very temporary, possibly only a few weeks. At least until business picks up a bit, then payment will go up accordingly,
'sounds fair,' I thought. Wouldn't make sense for me to be getting heaps when the business itself isn't, so I went with that thinking that pretty soon pay would go up to $400-$500, therefore having over $5000 for Adobe well in time for May...

...This was almost 8 months ago...

Here I am, at my work desk still stuck on a crummy $200 a week with no sign of it ever increasing, if anything it will soon be less. Get this:

This is officially the worst Internet Plan in the world (and we're on it for some reason):
AVOID BIGPOND
Our plan gets us 60gb a month, and it's flipping fast which is awesome, however I believe it's over $100 for that 60.
Now the capping system is a little different to other companies, whereas normal internet when you hit your usage limit your connection speed is simply slowed right down, to a point where it's virtually unusable, annoying. But whatever.

BigPond however thought of a better way to completely screw over their customers and suck every last drop of human sanity from their bone marrow:
The Internet speed stays quick, so the only way you know that you've hit the limit is with a single email, easily missed in buisiness computers which receive like 50 message a day.
Ontop of this, the real killer is that they charge their customers 15 cents for every mb over the limit... This KILLS people. Remember Internet usage includes uploads as well.

Therefore for every email WE receive from clients is costing US money. Last time we went over the cap we got a bill of THREE THOUSAND DOLLERS. Somehow this wasn't enough motivation to change to another dealer then and there because we've just hit that limit again, and in a mere 48 hours we are at 125%, that's 15000 mb over the limit at 15c a piece. Rounding to approximately $1000 a DAY until we can get out. Therefore if this isn't fixed the company will be charged at the end of the month about $20,000. In short, bankruptcy and we're not just all out of a job, but out of a house as well. Fantastic.

So in conclusion, does it seems likely that I might be getting a pay rise? Ha, don't make me laugh.

The Idiot Box

Sun Apr 5, 2009, 9:39 PM
I think there's a reason why the television got this nickname.

Probably one of the biggest idols of the modern day along with sports and money.
Every day millions get home from a 'busy day' to gather round and essentially worship these things.

Lately I've seen so much stupid tension, conflict and general antisocial behavior all because of TV.

Dinner times I wouldn't mind having a chat, talking about my day and hearing about everyone else's. Instead I get told off for not waiting until the ads to speak, even though there are no ads anymore because everything is pre recorded.

If people want to watch different things or if one person isn't interested in something someone else is it would quickly lead to an uproar.
A fight once broke out in my family because Dad was asked to turn the volume down by a single notch! I don't think anyone really stops and thinks for a second, 'this is television'

What prompted me to write this journal was because every monday myself, Leuk and Xiang get together to discuss our series of comics, novels etc. And recently we've been getting together at my place.
Now, it got called off this week, because (get this) Wrestlemania was on. I'm just thinking: 'What kind of pathetic excuse is that?' my sister tells me it's a 'family activity' pfft, family would be if we spoke to one another in general conversation from time to time without being at each others throats.
A group of people gathering around the idiot box is pretty much just a group of people gathering around the idiot box.

A similar example would be, (and this one absolutely baffles me) is that one of the most common things to do for a date if to go to the movies. It might be really good movie but it's completely antisocial. You wouldn't get to talk at all... You wouldn't even get to see each other seeing as the lights are dimmed.
Why don't people do more fun and creative things for dates, like going bowling, fishing or ice skating?

I think quite a few people are starting to get the same idea now, many people I know watch very little TV at all, and anything they do watch just gets streamed off the internet... But then you just spending all your time in front of another screen I suppose... And I certainly fall into that category >_>

...I've had my rant.

A Burst of Activity

Sun Mar 29, 2009, 4:11 AM
So for the first time this year I uploaded something to DA >_> How about that

Two old things and two new things. I've got a few others to upload, stuff that's been put together since I started working.

But unfortunately there won't be too much from me until I can get my hands on CS4... Which I am aiming to be some time in May (hopefully)

I look forward to that day and becoming properly active here again >_>
